About edX.org

edX.org is one of the web’s most prominent providers of MOOC (massive online open courses). Founded in 2012 by two of the most prestigious educational institutions around, Harvard University and MIT, edX.org is committed to providing a cross-disciplinary learning environment for students across the globe.

If you’d like to learn more about edX.org, here’s how it works. The website acts as an aggregator of online courses that have been contributed by the more than 100 partnering institutions that edX.org collaborates with. Students from anywhere in the world can sign up for technical, scientific, fine arts, language, and many other courses as they wish. Since the site is not affiliated with a single brick-and-mortar institution or degree plan, students have complete freedom to determine their own path. This gives you the power to learn what you want, when you want, from wherever you want – it’s that simple.

Though you have complete freedom, as mentioned, you can also learn about edX.org degree and certification programs if you are looking to earn career credentials. Earn a master’s degree from accredited universities across the globe, or pursue one of edX.org’s many professional certification programs. If you wish to master a specific topic, edX.org offers a service they refer to as “XSeries.” These are intensive programs designed to give you an in-depth perspective of your target topic area(s).

This is what new students need to know about edX.org and the online education process in general: First, know that you can reach out to one of many advisory professionals if you need guidance in setting your path. Ask yourself: Do I want a particular degree or certification, or am I trying to increase my knowledge base relating to a particular topic that interests me? Once you are confident in the courses you would like to try, search for them, enroll, and read the details closely. The site will guide you through pricing, course details and everything else you need to get started.

How to Use Coupon Codes

One of the greatest perks of online education in the case of edX.org is the potential for huge savings with coupon codes. After selecting your coupon code, you will have the opportunity to apply it on the payment page. Select the course you wish to enroll for and click on the “upgrade to verified” option. Next, you will be directed to a screen that contains an “add coupon code” field on the left-hand side of the screen. Once you successfully enter your code, you should see the difference reflected in the price. Make sure that you observe the reduction in price before you proceed to checkout. After selecting the checkout option, you will proceed to pay for the course as you would normally purchase anything online (selecting your payment method, adding your card information, etc.).

How to Connect with edX.org

If you want to learn about edX.org course offerings and connect with the company before you commit to taking a course, then you can visit one or more of their many social media sites. edX.org maintains a lively presence on Facebook, for example, where they offer in-depth articles covering the many courses that they offer. You can also network with fans and current or former edX.org students on the site to learn more about edX.org and what you should expect.

If you prefer tweeting to scrolling, then take to the edX.org Twitter page to see what’s hot in terms of their newest offerings. One great thing about edX.org on Twitter is their application of educational concepts to the real world. After a few minutes on their Twitter page, you may just be moved to action as your calling reaches out to you from behind the screen.

It doesn’t stop there, either. You can also learn about edX.org courses and programs on YouTube, LinkedIn, Google Plus and Reddit.

Refund Policy

Learning is all about exploration, and edX.org understands that, which is why they offer a generous refund policy on many of their add-ons, courses and other purchases. The period of time in which you are eligible for a refund depends on the product or service. If you wish to withdraw from a course, you have 14 days after making a payment or the start of the course (whichever occurs later) to receive a full refund. If you wish to withdraw from a professional education course, you have two 2 days after payment or the start of the course (whichever occurs later) to do so. In either case, simply email billing@edX.org.org to request a refund.
